Dr. Francis V. Wuobar MB.ChB, MPH

Dr. Francis V. Wuobar is an Obstetrician and Gynaecologist with experience in maternal and newborn health, high-risk obstetrics, obstetric triage, sexual and reproductive health, and quality improvement. He is also involved in clinical teaching, healthcare training, research, and maternal health programmes. His professional work includes mentoring medical and midwifery trainees, supporting quality improvement initiatives, and contributing to research on maternal health and healthcare systems.

His academic and professional qualifications include BSc Medicine and Surgery, Postgraduate Degree in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, MSc Public Health, and Certificate in Project Management. He also holds certificates in Good Clinical Practice (GCP), Global Health Research, Leadership and Management in Health, Introduction to Epidemiology for Global Research, Project Management in Global Health, Point-of-Care Quality Improvement (POCQI), and Basic Life Support (BLS).

Dr. Wuobar is currently an Obstetrician/Gynaecologist with the Ghana Health Service in Koforidua, Ghana. In this role, he provides obstetric and gynaecological care, manages both planned and emergency deliveries, counsels patients on reproductive health and preventive care, and mentors medical officers, house officers, and residents. He also has responsibility for supporting staff and managing patients with diverse maternal and reproductive health needs.

In addition to his clinical role, he serves as a Tutor at the Nursing and Midwifery Training College, Koforidua, an Obstetric Triage Champion with Kybele, and a National Trainer with the National Malaria Control Programme. He is also a Local Principal Investigator for the Severe Preeclampsia Outcome Trial (SPOT), where he supervises research assistants and supports adherence to research protocols and data quality requirements.

He is a member of the Ghana Medical Association (GMA), Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Ghana (SOGOG), and Fertility Society of Ghana (FERSOG). His professional interests include maternal and newborn health, obstetric triage, malaria in pregnancy, quality improvement, and sexual and reproductive health.
