Dr. Samuel Kaba Akoriyea MD, MPH, FGCP, PhD

Dr. Samuel Kaba Akoriyea is the Director-General of the Ghana Health Service (GHS), a Consultant Neurosurgeon, and a Public Health Expert with extensive experience in health systems leadership, policy, and service delivery. With over 26 years of medical practice, including more than 22 years as a Consultant Neurosurgeon, he has played a key role in neurosurgical advancement, public health administration, emergency response, and national health policy development.. He has worked across clinical care, public health practice, and health administration, with a strong focus on strengthening primary healthcare, disease control programmes, and institutional governance. As Director-General of the Ghana Health Service, he provides strategic leadership for the planning, coordination, and implementation of public health services nationwide, working closely with government, development partners, and frontline health professionals to improve access, quality, and health outcomes.
