George Ekem-Ferguson is a Clinical Psychologist with experience in hospital-based psychological services, academic instruction, and public health projects. His work focuses on mental health outcomes linked to chronic medical conditions such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, hypertension, kidney disease, and cancer, as well as substance use and suicidal behaviours among adolescents and adults. He has served in both clinical and research roles across national and international health programmes, contributing to HIV prevention, psychosocial support, and behavioural health initiatives.

At the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, he provides clinical psychological services within the Department of Psychiatry and the National Cardiothoracic Centre. Alongside his clinical work, he teaches psychology at the tertiary level, training undergraduate and postgraduate students in key areas such as cognitive behavioural therapy, developmental psychology, and the psychology of learning. His research and conference presentations have explored the interface between mental health and chronic illness, resilience in healthcare work, and adolescent behavioural health in Ghana.

Mr. Ekem-Ferguson is actively engaged in professional development and leadership within Ghana’s psychology community. He currently leads the Clinical Psychology Unit at the National Cardiothoracic Centre and serves as a Divisional Lead within the Ghana Psychological Association. His approach to clinical care and training is grounded in evidence-based practice, empathy, and the advancement of mental health service delivery in Ghana.
