
Pankaj Aseri is a seasoned professional in brand protection and legal enforcement, with extensive experience in combating falsified medicines across South East Asia and the Indian Sub-continent. Currently serving as Associate Director for Anti-Falsified Medicines at Novartis, based in Mumbai, he leads strategic and operational initiatives to safeguard the integrity of pharmaceutical products in one of the world’s most complex and high-risk regions. His role involves coordinating with cross-functional teams, regulatory bodies, and law enforcement agencies to detect, investigate, and dismantle networks engaged in pharmaceutical counterfeiting.
With a strong foundation in intellectual property law, Pankaj has developed and executed enforcement strategies related to trademark infringement, unfair competition, and anti-counterfeiting. His expertise extends to incident management, litigation, risk mitigation, and stakeholder engagement, making him a valuable contributor in high-stakes environments where brand reputation and patient safety are critically linked. At Novartis, he has progressively taken on higher responsibilities, previously serving as Anti-Counterfeiting Lead for India and neighbouring countries, and later expanding his scope to include the broader South Asian region.
Before joining Novartis, Pankaj worked with Johnson & Johnson, where he handled regional brand protection responsibilities. He also gained significant legal experience as a Senior Associate and Associate at top intellectual property law firms, including Singh & Singh Lall & Sethi and Lall & Sethi. These roles sharpened his litigation skills and deepened his understanding of legal frameworks governing IP rights, particularly in the healthcare sector.
His academic background includes a B.Sc. LL.B. with Honours in Intellectual Property from National Law University, Jodhpur, equipping him with the legal and analytical tools to navigate the evolving landscape of counterfeit regulation and enforcement. Pankaj is known for his strategic thinking, operational discipline, and commitment to public health through the protection of authentic medical products.
