This In-Person Continuing Professional Development (CPD) masterclass delivers a focused, practice-oriented update at the cardio-renal-metabolic interface. Three highly qualified, skilled and experienced resource persons will lead an intensive three-hour programme built around brief evidence updates, small-group case rotations, and a plenary discussion. The in-person session will be hosted in Accra, Ghana. Attendance is intentionally limited to ensure meaningful interaction, case discussion, and practical translation of current guidelines into day-to-day primary care and specialist practice.
FORMAT AT A GLANCE
i. Mini-presentations: concise, guideline-anchored updates on Type 2 Diabetes (T2D), Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD), and Heart Failure (HF).
ii. Small-group rotations (≈20–25 minutes each): one T2D case, one CKD case, and one HF case—emphasising risk stratification, therapeutics, and coordinated care.
iii. Plenary Q&A: participant questions, reflections, and key take-aways aligned to local practice realities.
TOPICS TO BE PRESENTED
Type 2 Diabetes
Mini-presentation: Key updates in T2D guidelines (glycaemic targets, SGLT2i/GLP-1 RA roles, ASCVD/CKD risk).
Chronic Kidney Disease
Mini-presentation: Practical primary-care take-aways from CKD guidelines (screening, albuminuria, RAASi/SGLT2i, referral thresholds).
Heart Failure
Mini-presentation: Translating HF guidelines into primary-care practice (quadruple therapy, decongestion, follow-up, comorbidity management).
WHY YOU SHOULD ATTEND
Integrated perspective: See the full picture where diabetes, renal disease, and heart failure intersect.
Case-based learning: Engage with realistic scenarios you can mirror in clinic the next day.
Actionable tools: Leave with concise algorithms, checklists, and follow-up templates.
Limited seats, high interaction: Guaranteed access to faculty for questions and feedback.
CPD accreditation: Earn CPD points for your attendance and participation.
Locally relevant: Tailored to Ghanaian care pathways, formularies, and referral systems.

The sessions and Q&A will be moderated by
Dr. Karen Rotuk – BI Medical Science Liaison
This In-Person CPD masterclass is a three-hour, highly interactive, practice-focused update delivered in Accra for a limited cohort of clinicians, led by expert facilitators who will anchor concise guideline briefings on type 2 diabetes, chronic kidney disease, and heart failure, followed by rotating small-group case discussions (20–25 minutes each) and a plenary Q&A to consolidate take-aways; participants will leave with streamlined algorithms, sequencing and monitoring strategies for disease-modifying therapies, clear referral pathways suited to Ghanaian practice, and eligibility for CPD points through the Medical and Dental Council.
By the end of the masterclass, participants will be able to:
1. Summarise current T2D, CKD, and HF guideline recommendations relevant to primary and specialist care.
2. Perform risk stratification using simple clinical and laboratory parameters to identify high-risk cardio-renal-metabolic patients.
3. Select and sequence disease-modifying therapies (e.g., SGLT2 inhibitors, GLP-1 receptor agonists, RAAS inhibitors, MRAs) based on patient phenotypes and comorbidities.
4. Apply streamlined algorithms for screening, initiation, titration, and monitoring—within Ghanaian practice constraints.
5. Establish referral and co-management pathways between primary care and specialist services to reduce fragmentation of care.
6. Implement patient-centred counselling strategies that improve adherence, safety monitoring, and outcome tracking.
