The Ghana College of Pharmacists, with support from World Child Cancer (WCC) and the International Children’s Palliative Care Network (ICPCN), presents this Continuing Professional Development (CPD) session designed specifically for practising pharmacists seeking to strengthen their competence in paediatric palliative care.
Paediatric palliative care requires a compassionate, coordinated, and patient-centred approach that addresses the physical, emotional, psychosocial, and supportive care needs of children living with serious illnesses. Pharmacists play a critical role within the multidisciplinary care team by ensuring safe, effective, and appropriate medication use, particularly in pain assessment and symptom management.
This CPD session will provide participants with practical knowledge and skills to support the assessment and management of pain in children, while also exploring broader principles of holistic paediatric palliative care. Through multidisciplinary perspectives and real-world clinical insights, participants will better understand how pharmaceutical care contributes to improving quality of life for paediatric patients and their families.
Key areas to be covered include:
By the end of the session, participants will be better equipped to apply evidence-based pharmaceutical care practices that support improved outcomes for children requiring palliative care services.
This programme forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the capacity of pharmacists to contribute meaningfully to multidisciplinary paediatric palliative care delivery in Ghana and beyond.
The webinar will be highly interactive, engaging, and clinically relevant, offering participants the opportunity to learn directly from seasoned resource persons and participate in a live Q&A session.
This is not just another webinar. It is a focused, clinically meaningful conversation on improving outcomes in patients with overlapping cardiovascular, kidney, and metabolic diseases.
