THEME: From Kidneys to Urethra: Imaging the Genitourinary Tract/System in the Era of Multidisciplinary Care
EVENT OVERVIEW
From 20 – 23 May 2026, the Ghana Association of Radiologists (GAR) will convene its 14 th Annual General & Scientific Meeting at Fiesta Royale Hotel, Accra, with full hybrid participation. Centred on genitourinary (GU) imaging, the programme brings together radiologists, urologists, nephrologists, oncologists, gynaecologists and allied professionals for three days of case-based learning, protocol workshops, original research presentations and hands-on discussions. Faculty drawn from leading centres in Ghana and abroad will demonstrate how ultrasound, CT, MRI and emerging functional techniques can be adapted to local resource settings while advancing multidisciplinary patient care. A dedicated Annual General Meeting (AGM), a black-tie awards dinner and a post-conference expedition round out an event designed to inform, inspire and connect peers across the sub-region.
WHY YOU SHOULD ATTEND
Attendees will gain state-of-the-art insights into GU imaging protocols; compare paediatric, adult and transplant case management strategies; and examine how artificial intelligence, interventional radiology and structured reporting are reshaping practice. The hybrid format ensures accessible CPD-accredited education, real-time Q&A with experts and opportunities to build research and referral networks. Social sessions—including a cultural night, gala dinner-dance and a Safari Valley excursion—offer relaxed spaces to strengthen professional relationships.
EVENT HIGHLIGHTS
Day 1 (Virtual) – Four themed sessions on paediatric & adult GU imaging, protocol optimisation, functional imaging and precision techniques, capped by closing remarks from the LOC Chair.
Day 2 (Hybrid) – Official opening ceremony with keynote address, followed by the GAR AGM covering presidential and financial reports, website launch and subspecialty plans.
Day 3 (Hybrid) – Full-day scientific marathon featuring original research, cross-specialty panels, an interventional radiology block, black-tie awards dinner and closing ceremony.
Day 4 (In Person) – Networking expedition to Safari Valley nature park.
SUMMARY OF DAILY SCHEDULE
Wednesday 20 May – Virtual “GU Imaging Intensive”
The meeting opens online with a concentrated teaching block that moves from congenital urinary-tract anomalies and paediatric tumours through emergency ultrasound pearls and CT-urography refinements to transplant-kidney imaging. Updates on PET/CT and PET/MRI in GU oncology and a refresher on prostate-MRI standards round out the day.
Thursday 21 May – Hybrid “Opening Ceremony & AGM”
Delegates gather in Accra (with live-stream access for virtual attendees) for a cultural welcome and keynote on multidisciplinary genitourinary care. Stakeholder addresses, an exhibition tour and official group photograph precede the Ghana Association of Radiologists’ Annual General Meeting, where members review reports, debate strategy and chart the Association’s future.
Friday 22 May – Hybrid “Scientific Plenary & Gala”
A full scientific marathon showcases case reports on ureterovaginal fistula, infectious masqueraders and AI-enhanced prostate MRI, followed by sessions on interventional renal-tumour ablation and chronic-kidney-disease imaging. The day concludes with a residents’ forum and a black-tie dinner-dance featuring awards and closing remarks.
Saturday 23 May – In-Person “Expedition”
An early departure carries participants to Safari Valley for a relaxed finale of eco-tourism, informal networking and peer fellowship before dispersal.

In-Person Attendance and Participation at the SkyPlus Hotel, Volta Region – Ghana
Set against the backdrop of Accra’s Fiesta Royale Hotel from 20 to 23 May 2026, this hybrid gathering of the Ghana Association of Radiologists offers an immersive, CPD-accredited exploration of genitourinary imaging—spanning congenital anomalies, paediatric tumours, emergency ultrasound, advanced CT and MRI protocols, AI-driven oncologic applications and interventional techniques. A virtual pre-conference intensive ushers in two days of in-person scientific sessions, a keynote-laden opening ceremony and the Association’s Annual General Meeting, while a black-tie awards gala and a Safari Valley networking excursion provide rich opportunities for collegial exchange. Throughout, multidisciplinary faculty and interactive case discussions equip participants with resource-appropriate strategies to enhance diagnostic accuracy, strengthen collaboration with urologists, nephrologists and oncologists, and ultimately improve patient outcomes across Ghana and the wider region.
By the end of the conference, participants will be able to:
1. Apply an anatomy-based, systematic approach to ultrasound, CT and MRI of the kidneys, ureters, bladder, prostate and urethra.
2. Select resource-appropriate imaging protocols for acute GU emergencies, infections and obstructive pathologies.
3. Distinguish benign from malignant renal, testicular and adrenal masses and communicate findings using structured reports.
4. Integrate AI tools and functional imaging (PET/CT, PET/MRI) into the diagnosis and prognostication of GU malignancies.
5. Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams to optimise management of renal-transplant recipients and complex oncologic cases.
6. Identify indications, techniques and outcomes of interventional radiology procedures—including renal-tumour ablation and endovascular therapies—for GU disease.
