GP Masterclass - 2025
The AWA GP Masterclass is a dynamic two-day virtual training program specifically designed to provide General Practitioners (GPs) with essential clinical knowledge and practical strategies for managing common yet critical conditions in primary care. This immersive training experience brings together an exceptional faculty of highly qualified, skilled, and experienced international resource persons, covering emerging trends in the management of hypertension, dyslipidemia, and the complexities surrounding chronic diseases.
A special highlight of the masterclass is a dedicated session on Sickle Cell Disease (SCD), an area of significant concern in our region. This session, led by an expert in the field, will provide GPs with the tools needed to effectively recognize, diagnose, and manage SCD, with an emphasis on early intervention and patient education to improve patient outcomes. In addition, the masterclass will also focus on the ocular complications of diabetes mellitus, equipping GPs with the knowledge to identify and manage these complications at an early stage.
Through interactive presentations and engaging Q&A sessions, participants will gain practical insights and actionable knowledge to enhance their clinical practice and overall patient care in the primary care setting.

DAY 1: PRESENTATIONS
1. New trends in the management of Hypertension
Learn about the latest treatments for high blood pressure, including new guidelines, medications, and lifestyle changes to personalize care for each patient.
2. Dyslipidemia management: importance of risk stratification
Understand how to manage high cholesterol, assess heart disease risk, and use medications and lifestyle changes to improve patient health.
DAY 2: PRESENTATIONS
1. Sickle cell: what PCP should know
Get an overview of Sickle Cell Disease, including how to diagnose and manage it early, prevent complications, and educate patients.
2. Diabetes Meletus (DM) and Ocular Complications
Learn how diabetes affects the eyes, recognize early signs, and know when to refer patients to prevent vision loss.
